The Click Moment
There is a moment most people can point to afterwards. Not the moment they learned something – they had learned it several times already – but the moment it stopped being information and became something they did.
Knowing is not the bottleneck
Almost nobody fails because they don’t know that vegetables are good and that a litre of soda a day is not. The information has been available the entire time. What changes is not the fact; it is the relationship to the fact.
Every previous attempt failed at the same place, and it was never the place I was looking.
Three things that tend to be true
- It happens after a failure, not after a success.
- It is specific – one habit, not a whole new life.
- It is boring from the outside. Nobody else notices for months.
What to do with yours
Write it down while it is still sharp, and tell one person. That is most of what the community exists for – not accountability theatre, just one other human who knows what you decided.
If you have had one, share it. If you haven’t yet, read what other people wrote about theirs; it is the fastest way to recognise your own.
